DISTRICT U3A to be held at Penmaenmawr Community Centre at 2.00pm on Thursday15th October 2026.

Nominations and/or volunteers please for committee.

Nominations for next year’s charity. Should a charity be elected, the nominee must be prepared to attend, arrange and supervise all fund-raising activities for that charity.

Following the AGM there will be a talk by Sarah Callon, from the North Wales Wildlife Trust, about the Llyn Brenig Osprey Project.

Membership Renewal is now due. For those who have not renewed already, the following options are available:

The membership fee is £10.00. This covers our membership year from 1^st September to 31^st August. If you have paid your full fee for this year to another u3a branch, your membership fee to Penmaenmawr u3a is £6.00. Membership fees are reduced to £5 for new members joining from April onwards.

YOUR CHANCE TO FIND A BARGAIN

At the AGM on Thursday15th October there will be a BRING AND BUY STALL, including seasonal produce. All the proceeds will go to our latest charity - to be agreed at same meeting; this is your chance to have a vote on the charity we support for the year and to support same.

IT'S GETTING CLOSER TO ‘THAT TIME OF THE YEAR'

With Christmas not too far away we are once again offering the opportunity to place a personal message/greeting in the December newsletter, thereby saving you the cost of Christmas cards, postage and the sheer hassle.

PRINTING FOR GROUPS

We have now purchased an eco-tank printer. This is a new type of printer that is now on the market. The purchase cost was a fraction of the annual rental of the old machine. It does not use cartridges. Ink comes in bottles which are emptied into tanks. This will give us considerable savings in future.

It has been decided that as Liz and Alan McGill are our Tech Team, managing the web site etc. they will carry out printing now for all Pen u3a groups, including drama. Ruth Connolly will continue to take responsibility for producing and distributing the newsletter.

We will walk a circular of 5 miles following the river bank on paths & tracks. May be mud. 2/3 stiles. Mainly flat. Some uneven ground. Lunch will be at The Talardy - on the roundabout after the slip-road to the A55 - (Sat Nav: LL17 0HY).

Catch 9.25 am No 5 bus at Llandudno Junction flyover to Bangor (Lord Nelson) to meet leader. Steep ascent to Bangor Mountain and surrounding terrain, then descend to Bangor including cathedral. Short ascent to Roman Camp overlooking Menai Strait, descent to Bangor Pier and bus home. 5/6 miles, no stiles. Picnic lunch. Leader: Mike Howard Tel: (01248) 208914.

MEDIUM WALKS Eve Webster 07751499817 & Janet Dibble 07733415830 Park at Dolwyddelan on the road down near the station.

The medium walk for 21st October will be a circular walk from the Station at Dolwyddelan. We walk by the railway line then up through forest and moorland. Across the A470 and past Roman Bridge Station. We then go up to a farm, and over the tops to Dolwyddelan Castle. From the Castle we go down the lane back onto the road and back into Dolwyddelan. There are a few stiles and gates and there will be some boggy areas and mud.

Please have suitable footwear and clothing and bring snacks, drinks and a picnic lunch. Walk starts at 10am.
